Lake Almanor Fishing Report
12/10/11
Be wary of ice forming in some of the shaded and shallow
coves that wind around the lake. Trollers should check
out the east shore and stick to the top 20 ft. of water using water clarity
reduced attractors, like flashers or dodgers.
11/20/11
A-Frame, Great Salmon action, Browns and Rainbow are there too. What makes the
A-Frame special? Springs, several of them. Bait fish are drawn into this spot
followed by the feeders. Anchovy tails suspended 4 to 6 ft. off the bottom for
Salmon; Crawlers, mealworms for Browns and Rainbows. The Salmon look like the
2 to 3 years old and have been going 16 to 18" and thick. Browns and Rainbows
have been bigger...up to 4 lbs. However, if the bait balls at the A-Frame are
thick, don't waste your time mooching, because they are not going to find your
needle in a haystack full of food. Start trolling around the area to get fish
lurking around trying to find the bait balls. Needlefish and Shiners in
nickel, silver, & white, downrigger down no deeper that 35 ft. all look like
smelt running through the water... Ka-Pow, we started out with a triple,
followed by a double, and limited out with a bunch of single hook-ups.
